Excel Keyboard Shortcuts: the 25 worth learning

You do not need hundreds. These 25 cover most of a working day. Learn three a week.

Moving around

Shortcut Does
Ctrl + Arrow Jump to the edge of the data
Ctrl + Home Go to A1
Ctrl + End Go to the last used cell
Ctrl + Page Down / Up Next / previous sheet
Ctrl + G Go to a cell or range

Selecting

Shortcut Does
Ctrl + Shift + Arrow Select to the edge of the data
Ctrl + Space Select the column
Shift + Space Select the row
Ctrl + A Select the table (press again for the sheet)

Editing

Shortcut Does
F2 Edit the cell
Ctrl + D Fill down from the cell above
Ctrl + R Fill right
Ctrl + ; Insert today’s date
Ctrl + Shift + ; Insert the time
Alt + Enter New line inside a cell
Ctrl + Shift + + Insert row or column
Ctrl + − Delete row or column

Formulas

Shortcut Does
Alt + = AutoSum
F4 Add $ to a reference (cycle through)
Ctrl + ` Show all formulas
F9 Recalculate

Formatting and data

Shortcut Does
Ctrl + 1 Format Cells dialog
Ctrl + Shift + L Filter on / off
Ctrl + T Turn the range into a Table
Ctrl + Shift + $ / % Currency / percent format

Mac: swap Ctrl for ⌘ in most of these.
